Taste of Texas 2023 Inauguration

George’s Restaurant brought a little Waco flavor to the 2023 Texas inauguration events on January 17th.

The Inauguration Committee selected the Texas Restaurant Association as the culinary partner to showcase the diversity of restaurant fare across the state.

George’s was one of just a handful of restaurants from across the state chosen by the Texas Restaurant Association to be part of the Taste of Texas 2023 inauguration event at the state capitol. The Waco staple was the only restaurant selected from the Heart of Texas area.

“It means so much to have been picked to do this special event with nine other Independent Restaurants. We are so proud and honored to help out Governor Abbott, and we appreciated it when he came to George’s in Waco in November.”

And what did George’s treat the thousands of Taste of Texas attendees to? Their signature Crazy Wings, of course! Citrano said Crazy Wings have been the most popular appetizer in Waco for the last 20 years and are loved by all Texans.

Other offerings on the event menu included seafood gumbo from The Spot in Galveston and barbecue from The County Line in Austin.

Besides bragging rights for the eateries involved, the Taste of Texas event benefited the ProStart culinary arts program. Some students even participated in the event. ProStart is a project of the Texas Restaurant Foundation, the charitable arm of the Texas Restaurant Association.

George’s is honored to have been a part of this event and looks forward to Governor Abbott’s next visit to Waco!
